Celtics game to honor Captain Phillips

Last night (Tuesday), I went to the Boston Celtics game with my boyfriend's sister and mom to see the game and Captain Phillips honored. It was great to see someone who was so close to Robbie.

Here he is getting his trophy and jersey

We made some pretty fancy shirts to go to the game in.

Pretty snazzy, eh? They are even bedazzled!

Had a great time, and it was a great game. Celtics Won!!! GO CELTICS!

WOW!

What a whirl wind week it has been!

From the article, our local ABC affiliate decided to run a story on Robbie. They contacted his mother and I about doing an interview this morning, and I just watched the 11 o'clock news with the feature. It was great!!!

I can't wait to tell him all of this. I also hope that more comes from this. I hope that I can meet more people and do something productive with this experience.

I am going to the Celtics game tuesday night with his mom and sister. They are honoring Captain Phillips at the game, so it is fitting that we go I suppose :-).

Still can't calm down, just so happy he is being recognized...even though he has no idea. What a phone call it will be when I can finally tell him all this!!

Front Page Baby

So my lovely Blogging teacher and Nashua Telegraph reporter extraordinaire, Stacy, wrote a lovely article on Robbie!

So excited and so grateful. I can't wait to tell him...when I finally can.

Take a look!

I love reading about everything going on with his boat, now it is ACTUALLY about him!

Too bad he is away for his 15 minutes of fame.

His mom bought 20+ papers and gave me 8 copies. We are only a little excited...

In true Marine girlfriend form, I have over-committed myself in hopes of staying sufficiently distracted ...and my blogging has suffered. So sorry!

I have, however, been inspired by my (former... :( ) blogging teacher. Therefore, I will try to write everyday for...well a while/as long as I can/until I forget.

New York was great fun with my dearest Kate! I forgot my camera, but she took some pictures, so I will hopefully have some up soon.

Here is a great site
for marine garb for all you USMC fans out there. Personally, I like the print magazine better...it is like cuddling up to a great book that has no plot, climax, characters or any other aspect of a book except a few words and pictures.

My boyfriend's mother ordered a silver plated bracelet with an engraved saying on it from the Srgt. Grit site (a.k.a. grunt.com). It is beautiful! I will try to get a picture up if anyone is interested in seeing it before they buy.

In other, more obvious news...The pirates 'nough said.

I am preoccupied with those stories as of late because my dearest is "fightin the pirates." Hopefully, we will all be able to learn more about the military's counter piracy efforts...Check this out!

How about that?! My marine is on the Boxer. You can be sure that I would watch the Man network Spike TV for that...as well as CSI re-runs.

Anyone have any interesting articles?

HAVE A GREAT DAY

HAPPY MARATHON MONDAY!

P.S. This whole deployment "thing" would be waaaay easier if I was as easily amused by simpler things in life...like ballies...

Distractions!

So I am trying to stay bus and distracted, as you know. I have lots of things I have always wanted to do or achieve, and now is the perfect time to get on them! Everything from little, everyday things, to more difficult goals - training to run a marathon.

My running has been pretty steady lately. I have been running for years now, but I haven't been able to stick to a strength training regiment that is necessary for running a marathon. For the past five days, I have maintained a resistance routine. Look at that, just needed some motivation!

I am headed to New York this weekend with my friend Kate, another thing I have always wanted to do. And I imagine it will provide plenty of distraction.

Hope everyone is hanging in there!
